Default 93 civic valve cover stud dilema.....(NO ITS NOT STRIPPED)

k i changed my v cover gasket today just .i bought the car in march and figured since the gasket was leaking i would replace it so i did.....now the only problem is when i put the new gasket on and tightend the studs (theres 5 total) i noticed that the one closest to the power steering pump was not getting very tight....so i figured whatever i leave it snug but i now notcie its l;eaking on to the timing belt cover....the reason is becuase that stud doesnt get tight enough to seal the oil....so now what? i took that stud out and looked though the v cover and notcied theres what looks to be heli-coils coming out ....it looks like the threads that the stud threads into are coming out and are all fucked up.....maybe a previous owner put a heli-coil in? what do i do now i am not sure how to use a heli-coil set...what size do i buy etc? and info is appreciated please becuase if i cant get that stud tioght enough ill keep leakiking oil....does anyone know how to do heli-coils? thanks. ill take my v cover off tommorrow and fixz the problem if you guys gimme a solution......thanks.

I'm not familiar will helicoils but... I'd buy a tab and dye set and go to town. Tap it out and run a larger diameter stud.

Drill out the stud completely. Use a tap to run threads down into the head. Eliminating the stud and the nut (use the same size if you'd like). Buy the correct-sized bolt and tighten that shyte down into your newly run threads.

Disclaimer: This is what I did for my car. Do at your own risk.

just to double check, my buddy had oil leaking out and the gasket popped out a little bit and wasn't sealing all the way. not sure if this helps but just double check your gasket.

well its the stud...its not getting tight enough at all.....so the oils seaping through...the gaskets brand new and on correctly...i can see the threads coming out of the thing.....the studs are threaded and were the stud threads into is were the threads are actually coming out......looks like a helicoil.

Yeah as long as you get the correct length bolt, you can use the grommet.

edit- Does your valve-cover thread down into your head? Or is it actually connected.
