Default How to read Oil Pressure Gauge

what depicts oil pressure? i notice when the engine is cold, the oil pressure gets up in the 50-60 range if over 2000rpm.

but once engine is warm,

at idle - ~9-15psi
and at ~3-4Krpm = ~58-64PSI

how do i know if this is good or not? changes in oil filter can change oil pressure correct? any usefull reading on how to read and trasnlate oil pressure information?

Helps to know what engine you have. On a B18A, the minimum oil pressure at idle is 10 lbs. And at 3K rpms minimum pressure should be 50 lbs. When the car is cold, the pressure will be higher temporarily. If you have a B18A, your pressures are on the lower end of the scale.

Just for reference, my 278K mile B18A has a minimum of 15 lbs at idle and over 65 lbs at 3K rpm.

your pressure is on the low side, my b16a gets 22-25 psi at idle and 75-80 at 3k and above. what weight oil are you running, and what filter? Does your oil pan have any dents in the bottom of it? Are you using/burning any oil? You may want to run a 10w40 and a pcx oem s2000 filter for a little more pressure

Is it really that hard to figure out the gague?, the faster the motor/oil pump spins, the more pressure you get, until the relief valve opens at around 80-85psi, p.s. your oil pressure sucks, your main and rod bearings are probably worn.
