Default 2 questions: replacing axles and front suspension wear

Do you really have to drain the tranny fluid to change the passenger side axle like the manual says?

I'm going to be changing my axles soon so it looks like a good time to change some suspension components while I'm in there. What should I look at replacing? I'm not familiar with what commonly goes out on CRX's.

i say 'no' to the draining the oil question.
bushings lose their effectiveness when they get old, so replacing them is smart, but a PITA

You don't have to drain the tranny fluid. If doing the passenger side...jack it up and put a stand under the passenger side and slowly let it down so it is resting on the driver's side tires...no tranny fluid should come out.

Like everyone is saying no you dont have to change the tranny fluid when doing your axel yes some fluid will come out. I change my tranny fluid everytime I do an oil change to keep the tranny in good shape. Dont want grinding gears. As far as suspension ball joints and tie rods are what you should look at to see if they are bad if so replace them. Unforunatly you have to get new upper control arms to replace the upper ball joints. Bottom ball joints everyone says they have to be pressed in it but you dont have to press them in there is a lock ring on the bottom of the ball joint. Take that lock ring off and beat the ball joint out and put new in.

Holy cow!! You change your tranny fluid EVERY change? That's a bit excessive, but if it works for you

That fluid hardly heats up enough to break down.
