I just purchased a 1989 crx hf with a JDM DOHC ZC engine. The problem im having is its not getting spark. The kid I bought the car off of put an MSD Blaster SS coil on the car, and ever since he put that coil on, the motor isn't getting any spark. The distributor was checked and is okay and the plug wires are new. Today I peeled off all the electrical tape protecting the wires that go to the coil and found out that the red wire wasn't hooked up to anything and the green wire hooks up to the bottom of the distributor. Im not sure where the wires are suppose to hook up because I didn't get any info with the car about the MSD coil. Also, there is a positive and ground hookup on the coil, which wire goes where? Red and Green are the colors of the two wires. Any help would be great. I have pictures of the coil setup here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2080315
Today, i took the distributor cap off to see what wire the green one hooks up to, and the green wire from the coil hooks up to a yellow wire with a green stripe inside the distributor. The blue wire comes out of the distributor and goes into the wiring harness, and a black wire with a yellow stripe comes out of the distributor and goes into the wiring harness. I don't want to buy a stock coil yet because i want to try to get this one hooked up right.

Get rid of that blaster coil, and get an oem coil to put back in your dizzy

 

First of all does your dizzy cap have a spot for the external coil wire? If it does then you can use the coil. The red wire goes to ignition or power when key on and the green goes to the negative wire usualy this is the blue wire in the dizzy. Good luck.
