Question about led and resistors
Hey everybody, I'm new about led's and resistors and I'm working on a led conversion project on my 6th gen accord. My question is what is the difference between 1/2 watt and 1/4 watt resistors. I need 1/2 watt 330 ohm resistors but all I can find is 1/4 watt. Is it that big of a deal. You info will be deeply appreciated so please help!!!
http://www.ledautomotive.com/O...cord/ Good stuff. I have pics if you wanna see.
if your set-up calls for a 1/2 watt it will probably fry the 1/4 watt or it won't let enough power through to work properly. putting two 1/4 watts in parallel will carry the 1/2 watt, just make sure you don't put them in series. of course, then you have changed the resistance of the circuit... two resistors with the same resistance will be half if parallel (165 ohms in your case)... best to find a 330 ohm 1/2 watt.... but you knew that already...
I'm getting my led's and resistors through this site. They're the cheapest I've seen.

Bleh. WTF is that site? Try http://www.digikey.com. $25 minmum order to avoid $5 handling fee, but I order gobs of parts from them all the time for work..top notch service and shipping.
What size LED are you putting in? 1/4 would probably be fine if it's a smaller LED..the resistor is only there for current limiting.

If the physical size is not to big and they have better than 1/2 watt , then get the bigger watt rating, cant go wrong, if the thing will fit on your project.
