Default Can somone help me identifying this problem? -- Braking unsmoothly

The bike is a 98 F3 600, I'm the second owner, first owner did drop it possibly in an Endo.

Since I got the bike, there are appearant issues with the steering bushing as the handles will shake if I go over bumps or whatnots. It has been replaced and those symptoms are at minimal now.

However, recently, when I brake at low speed, below 20ish. The front brakes are very unsmooth. It stutters, as if there's a bent on the front brake rotor, and when you brake, you can feel the warpage of the rotor. This is a new symptom. It is not obvious when I brake at higher speed and it just happened two weeks ago.

Of course, the first suspect is a warp rotor, but I have friends telling me that there might be something bent holding up the wheel, or some thing might be loose holding up the wheel. I don't feel anything uneasy when I am not braking though.

Does this pose any imminent danger? Why should I look for to determine if it's a bent rotor, or if anything is bent or loose?

I wouldn't 2nd guess anything that has to do with my front brakes. Go and take it to a competent bike mechanic before you end up crashing your bike and possible injuring yourself or anyone else. Because that can get expensive.

Get the bike on a stand, and spin the front wheel. You should be able to eyeball a warped rotor. If not, and you cant figure it out on your own, then definatly do what ScareyH22A said and take it to somebody who can.

I had a 'special' moment and left the disk brake on and gave it a little blip of the throttle and was like WTF am I stuck on...? Didn't even hit hard and it warped the rotor just enough to pulsate and drive me crazy. SuX0rs!~

taking to a shop is not much of an option, because I don't know any good ones nearby.

There is a Honda/Yamahe dealer that just ripped me a new one last month by charging $600 for new chain and sprocket/steering bushing. And they didn't even do a good job on the bushing...let along their rude attitudes.

Anyone can recommend a shop in Queens, New York City?

Bleh, took it to the dealer. Turns out it was the studs on the front brake calipers that got dried up. Lub them up and the problem is fixed. Cost me $130 ....
