trying to find out cel
k i did a quick search but didnt find anything. my buddy just bought an 88 crx and his engine light came on, what i need to know is where is the plug located and how do you jump it to get the engine code. thanks alot.
someone correct me if im wrong, but if u pull back the carpet near the passengers feet like pull it down, u should be able to see the ecu, and on it there will be a red flashing light, but in order to make it flash u need to turn the key to the position just before the position that starts the car, so that all the lights on ur instrument thing light up, then go and check the code, if u search on FAQ threads u should find out info on the codes, good luck.
hey thanks alot i did more of a search after i posted this and found a couple things but this was by far more helpful......hey and thanks for not bein a dick about me posting a common question like this.

Stock wiring for Civic: 1988-1991 are OBD0; 1992-1995 are OBD1; 1996-2000 are OBD2.
Correct me if I am wrong on 1992-2000, but I know for certain 1988-1991 are OBD0. They have no jumper. Just the flashing light on the ECU, flashes the same way the CEL works when you jump it in a newer Civic that's OBD1/2..

right on so i took a look and the red light just keeps flashing like 30 or 40 times really slow, am i suposed to do more than just turn the ignition on?
No, just turn on the ignition (don't need to start the car): Check for breaks in between flashes. Like 2 quick flashes, then a break, then 2 quick flashes and a break. That would be a code 2. So-on- and so-forth...
If it's just slow, 1-flash patterns, maybe that's a code 1. Which would be Oxygen content. Check oxygen sensor and replace if necessary.
