Check Engine light is on
I have a 90 accord with a h22a in it and a chipped p13 ecu my check engine light has been on since I put the engine in my car. My question is how can I find out whats wrong, my accord ecu use to have a red flashing leds on it to let me know what was going on.
Basically, you need to "pull the code". What you do is find the diagnostic port & jump the connection with a paper clip. Then turn the key in the ignition to the accessory port, and the CEL will start to blink - count the blinks to find out the code number (for example, one long blink + four short blinks = 14). Once you know the code, you can look it up & find out what the computer is telling you.
If you're uncomfortable doing any of this yourself, many autoparts stores will pull the code for you for free (like Autozone does, I think). A Honda dealership will usually charge you to do it.
If you search using terms like 'pulling code', 'DTC', 'CEL', etc., you should find plenty of information in the forum here, as well as links that will tell you what all the codes stand for (in case you don't have a service manual).
