Default honing question

is there a difference between the hone stones for frm and non-frm sleeves? from the helms, the only difference i can tell is the grit.

It depends on the bore, after the hone, the piston to wall clearance should be .oo7-.03mm give or take .04mm. You may be able to still use B size pistons after you hone.

Piston Diameters:
A: 86.990-87.003mm

B: 86.980-86.993mm

So just pick the one that gives you the best piston to wall clearance.

Edit: This is for an H23 but it should be the same.

frm requires a different grit stone, you're right on that point. There aren't all that many shops that bore or hone frm blocks. Why are you getting the block honed anyway. You should def. consider sleeving the block while it is out anyway instead of re-honing your stock block. What are your future plans for the motor?

just putting in type s pistons. no need for sleeves. after some reading i might not even hone. the cylinder walls are really smooth.

Thats not normally what you want. You want a surface for the rings to rub up against and make smooth. I would reccommend to always re-hone when putting different pistons in. My opinion.
