I was lowering my 94 accord with some springs. I didn't have a compressor so I tried the jacking method... It worked, but the prob was i couldnt' get the spring out.. I had to pull down on the control arm to have some space to pull out the spring/shock. While doing this i must of popped out my cv axel, because my rotor was completely offset. I looked into it and actually took off my cv boot and found out that i actually took it out of a socket. I tried forcing it back into the socket but no success. Any suggestions on fixing this? If not I guess i'll just have to replace the whole axel.
HAHA...I just fixed this w/ my car 4 days ago. Same exact scenario, too. Dont try to force it. Look on the inner end of the CV boot(if its already removed), and you should see a tri-pot bearing. it should have 3 little bearings sitting in a Y formation. you have to pull outward on them, and then reset the axle into the outer race for the tri-pot. I was scared as **** when this happened to me, but a little thinking and 15 bucks for a new CV boot and i was back on the road sporting a newly lowered ride.
damnit being a noob sucks! i can't post more then 5 times in 24 hours. but anyways.
YOU SUCK hahaha just messing. but I just got done replacing my axle! i bought a whole new axle. It was about 100, but with the 45 core exchange its only going to cost me about 55. Still, a lot more then what i should of paid for considering what you did.
I thought there was no option but to buy a new axle. The tri-pot bearings looked way to complicated. When i took the axle off the bearings fell out completely! so i dont really know if it was repairable.
It really sucked trying to put on the other spring, because i was trying to be so cautious in NOT dislocating the bearings, fearing that i might ahve to replace another axle. Because if you let the control arm just fall on its own weight, that was enough to slightly dislocate the bearings. It was hell getting the strut out and back in again.
It took me so long today just replacing the axle and puttin the other spring in, i had no time to put my rear springs on... is there any other probs i might run into when doing my rears? it should be pretty simple compaired to the front..
