My gas pedal is stiff!
My gas pedal feels stuck. I really have to stomp on it to get it going. It feels like my throttle body plate is sticking. After I clean out the tb, everything is fine for a couple of days. After that, I have the stiff gas pedal again. Does anyone know a solution to this problem. Also, my car idles at 2000 when warm and 2500 when cold. Does anyone know whats wrong w/ my b16? Has anyone every experienced this?
ok
get some wd 40
go to where the tb is look at the accel cabe with engine off spray the thing that opens and closes the tb the part that hold the cable on not into it
work it a little
and also make sure ur crankcase vent isnt spewing major amounts of crap into your intake and also check ur intake filter.
if u clean it and it gets bad again sounds like either air filter sucks or too much oil going in,

If none of those work, pull off your intake tube, look in the TB at the butterfly(throttle plate)and open it to expose the phillips screws that hold it to the shaft.Loose them a little, then close and open the throttle a few times to center the plate. Then carefully re-tighten them so it stays centered. All this is easier if you dis connect the cable from the TB rotor(pulley)and w/an offset screwdriver(screws are usually tight).

I fixed the stiff gas pedal. The problem was wit the part of the throttle body that holds the cable. I replaced that part and my gas pedal is perfect. Now I have another problem. My idle is at 3000 rpm. It is constant. I checked the throttle cable, adjusted the screw. Still no luck. I need help w/ my idle. What could be causing the problem. I will check for vacuum leaks tommorow.
After cleaning do you lubricate(WD40 works well) the pivot points of the throttle plate?? Also to check if the cable is binding I just un hook the cable from the pedal assembly and throttle body and check to see if it moves without binding. Dos Cents
