Grindin' third gear ITR Tranny!!!
Took the car out the other day and the third gear is grindin'. WTF. Just want to know what my options are? Should I rebuild the tranny or just get a replacement?
Any advice on what shop to do the work or where can I get a replacement? Thanks.

very common issue.... your synchros are going bad. Rebuilding or replacing is not necessary. Simply replace the synchros and all will be well!

Agree no need to get another tranny, this is a very common thing. Look at gearspeed.com for replacement synchros.

Okay, so where are the syncros located? I know its inside the tranny. Is it easily accessible when the tranny is off? Is it just a couple bolts to remove and replace?
Where can I get some of those synchromesh?

nothing helped mine .
It is common.
I went thru 5 count them 5 gear boxes with mine. lol
But mine were all covered under warranty
Who else can walk into Acura with a T67 hanging off a motor with big *** drag radials still on it and get warranty work. . . Oh yea the Tech advisor and Tech Manager both worked at the track that I frequented atl . lol.

Synchros arent the easiest thing to do. You have to open up the case and take it all apart. I just changed my fluid to try out this synchromesh stuff and am not happy with it. For 11 dollars a bottle its doing the same as honda MTF.

It is an involved procedure that requires much courage on the part of a shadetree mechanic who has never worked on a transmission at all before....or an experienced shop to take care of.
Go to Autozone or PepBoys whatever is around you ...try the search function "synchromesh"
Or even the FAQ thread at the top of this forum.

Like everyone else already said, your syncro is going bad. Change the tranny oil and see what happens. If you’re a baller then just order a new tranny or if you’re poor like me give http://www.gearspeed.com (great peoples) a call and order new set. Don’t call the dealership for a quote because it is out of this world. I rebuild my tranny with all new syncro’s from gearspeed and have not had any problems since, shifts like butter now.
It’s not the easiest thing to replace, however if you have a helms and your confident in your abilities, it can be done. Just pay attention and dont drink to much while you work it.
