how to tell if you have a bad starter? i drove my car around all day today , parked it for 15min at starbucks to get a drink , come back my car doesnt start , it just clicks. so i push start it and let it idle for 20 min then drive it home , turn the car off and try to start again but it just clicks again.....anything i can look for? i checked the battery connections they are good.

 

if the starter is clicking then its time for a new one

 

your battery is dead player, TRUST ME, the clickin is the starter, even tho your inside lights come on, it doesn't have the power to turn over the start, i bet u money, u were able to jump start it

I had a problem like that where I would have to bang on my starter with my Mag Lite in order to get my car to start. After about six months of this my starter broke and I got a new (used form a junkyard) one and never had a problem again.

have u tryed a different battery i had a battery go out on me in 2 weeks before

 

just replace the starter.

 

My car is a 95 Civic it cranks but won't start I changed the fuel pump. It doesn't click, it actually cranks but won't start is it the starter

 

No. If the engine cranks when you turn the key, the starter is OK.
