Default something electrical ??

i cant blieve what has happened , i changed my oil today around six , i started it when i was done and let it run for about five minutes everthing was fine .
At 10pm i go to leave and my car wont start . When i put the key in and turn it not to start but just to were like the radio would come on and all the beeping noises everything just flashes rapidly and a bunch of clicking noises like i was taking the battery cable and tapping it on the post and when i try to turn it more to srart it just makes more noises . i got it to act normal twice but then when i tryed to start it would do the same thing . I got my meter out and check my battery everything was fine . i checked the wires on the post fine , same thing with the alternator im lost so i stopped for the night . but ive been thinking i didnt check the negative cable where its grounded what do u guys think ??

Check battery voltage under a load (turn the car on... try to crank, etc)... it shouldn't drop below ~10V.

I can't really understand what you're saying with those damn run on sentences. Will you calm down and explain what happens when you put the key on? What happens when you crank it? What else did you touch when you were doing the oil?

Alright lastnight when i put the key in and turn it one click everything just blinked really fast like power was coming and going . when i tryed to start it , it would just make more clicking noises but the noises where coming from the drivers side??

Today after going over alot of things and checking all my ground and fuses , when i turn the key it acts normal untill i try to start it then it goes back to what it was doing.

when i was under the car taking the oil filter off a wire harness was in my way so i was constantly bumping it .

right after i got done with the oil change i started the car everything was fine , then 4 hours later this happened

today i followed the harness that was in my way and checked the connections everything seems fine

Errrr... has it occured to you that your battery may be stone cold dead?
Try charging it overnite or perhaps even buy a new Battery.

13.5V is fine for no draw, but if it doesn't change at all, then somethings up. It should have some drop in voltage when you put a draw on it.

ya it doesnt change at all , im running out of ideas .
Im gonna try again in the morning it to late right now . I work with the previous owner and he told me something i didnt like to much the harness was made by a local performance shop to save money from buying one and well i was moving the wires around alot i hope i didnt seperate any wires , it should be put together good its a pretty reputable shop .

Im probably just worrying to much about might be just something simple im overlooking . i still cant figure out why it would run right after i got done workin on it then for hours later did this i didnt touch it for the 4 hours . oh well , ill keep everyone updated

wouldn't be your starter would it?? you said you heard noises, but im not sure what kind of noises. just a thought, cause when your starter's going bad, it will work a few more times before it totally goes out.

i thought about that , bc if it was bad it wouldnt draw anything from the battery which its not now , but from my expeince with starters its not the same noise and the wholle flickering lights and stuff and horn and headlights not working now , wouldnt be coming from a bad starter . . the clicking noise im talking about sounds like when your battery is really low like say you left your lights on and you try to start your car and the dash lights come on but when you go to start it just clicks thats what it does now .

UPDATE tonight when i got home from work i tryed starting it and all my interior lights were really dim and the 4 beeps that go off when u put the key in were really faint . i checked the battery again full charge .

Check and double check your battery connections!!!

Sounds to me like the battery is fine but you are not getting that voltage where you need it..measure in a couple different spots where it would be likely to have battery voltage...check the grounds..

Should be a simple fix, huh?

Just take your time, have someone else who knows a little about cars have a look..but the symptoms you describe indicate a poor connection...but where..that's up to you to find.

My CRX did exactly that over a bad ground to the starter. Check it out.

it's the battery. replace it.

I could say ground, but you say you didn't touch any grounds since it's last start.
13.5 should be shown only if it's charging, 12v+ should be normal. I say you're doin it wrong, and it still sounds like your battery is dead. Try another one, just humor us, try a good battery. tell me what happens.

Of course if it's as simple as the battery terminal connections, we will never know if he tries a new battery! You could try jumping the damn thing first..

13.5 is a bit high, but I will assume that it really isn't connected well..normal should be a bit lower, 10-12 volts.

Oh, and let us know if you fix it..so many times these posts never come to a conclusion
