governer questions!!!!
ok guys you might get mad at me for asking this question but i tryed looking for it and never found anything on the subject unless i looked for the wrong things. without having to reprogram the ecu, how can i shut off my governer? anything at this point will be greatly appreciated
what year, tranny and trim?......not all accords have a speed govener -most older ones dont. id really like to know why the hell you have to go that fast. if it is for what i think -highway speeding, then hopefully you wont kill an innocent people trying to live their life and be a mature, and safe motorist

Damn, that was a long-winded scolding reply without even answering his question.

i forgot my car is a 95 lx 4 door and no its not for highway racing. first off its for personal knowledge and second of all i wanted to see differences when i put it on the dyno how far you can actually push it with the ecu being programmed and without it beign programmed my friends own a dyno shop so we're going to do alot of tests on the car before doing what we want to it. we just dont know if there is a way to shut it off or not by wire or fuse or something. oh and thanks 93dx for watchin my back

i cant answer his question if i dont know what model he has. and im not about to go helping someone to break the law. quit trying to stick up for someone just because you think its cool to go 110 on a public road. go **** yourself
OP: im sorry for jumping at you about illegal speeding; but from now on, you should always give as much info as possible. people are willing to help if you're only doing it for research and whatnot. im almost positive that your car doesnt have a speed limiter if its a stick. f22b2's dont have a rev limiter eith per say, but rather a fuel cut off to keep the engine from reving any higher and damaging valves. once again, is this an Auto or manual...the autos might have a governer, im not sure. if there is a governer, theres really no way to get rid of it w/o chipping the ecu and removing it from the programing
im not sure why you want top out on a dyno....generally you dont pull in 5th gear anyways. but whatever floats your boat

first of all yes, it has is governed. ( or so the manual says) It should be around 120 or so, to the question of if it can be taken off without all that crap... i have no idea.... good luck

i dont think that is the case, the governer on a 95 will be at 115mph exactly, everytime...the car pulls good all the way to the 115 then stops, at only about 4700 rpms..

with a governer in place it is possible to reach it in 4th gear...

i stand corrected...but once again there is no way to remove it that i know off without modifying teh ECU. was it the 4th gens then that dont ahve a speed governer?...i wouldnt know from first hand experience because ive never driven te accord over 95

my 96 ex 5speed doesnt have a speed gov... (dont ask) (-_-)....
the only way i know of is what fw190bvi said about the ecu..
but still why would you want to top out on a dyno.. the wheels could spin as fast as they want but they could probably never make that fast on a real street... on a dyno there is no wind resistance and tire friction..
but again its your car.. get a chipped ecu..

look im not gonna even ask fw190bvi all he's done was just straight talk **** and ASSUME things that he doesnt know what im going to be doing. now the whole point of the dyno was to notice the differences of strip tested and dyno tested. the f22 can handle a certain limit over the governed limit but without having to go through the hastle of trying to chip it we wanted to see what the results are by just shutting it off ourselves. we have 3 accords in our shop , 2 of them topping out at 140 145 approx. (both with ecu reprogrammed) with this one we want to whats the actual limit of the engine before putting any aftermarket performance products on it. and we mean the actual limits of that engine STOCK!!! so appreciate the help guys. ill find out some how
140-145.. is stock top out... any bolt ons.. wouldnt matter.. it would prolly just take a few more seconds longer... or maybe just a lil lowwer speed cuz the restrictive airbox... but the CHIPED ecu's didnt raise the top speed...
i am almost positive, 4th and 5th gen ex's DO NOT have a governor, but the dx and lx do, se's im not sure about as se and ex were alternated some years(some years ex was top of the line, other years se), so your only option is to get an ex ecu but that will require some engine modifications, but no ecu modification
Not to jack your thread but this might be insightful if you have the answer, about not having a rev limiter!, I have a 95 Accord EX, with a 2.2Vtec with an auto, When the vtec kicks in I always back off because the engines gets so close to redline, will the fuel limiter stop once the engines hits Top RPM's and stop damage or should i be nervous about hiting full throttle, I am used to Small block Chevys and Large displacement engines so this is new to me,
any info would be much appreciated.

You my friend are the most correct so far. I'll come right out and say me and a friend have topped out the cars on highways. **** you if you scold me, I'm an adult, I know the repurcussions of my actions. I don't need anyone telling me what I did or didn't do wrong, just for the sake of having some solid information, yes, I drove these cars much faster than I should have, deal with it.
94-97 Accord EX = ungoverned, auto or manual
94-97 DX, LX, SE = governed, unless obviously, the SE had VTEC. Same ECU boys
Also, 96-97 are OBD II, I know that these cars are rated at the same horsepower, but the OBD I vehicles really do seam to have more muscle up top when your actually trying to reach these speeds. Might be a difference in top-end A/F ratio for emissions.
I've owned two of the vehicles tested, my friend had a 96 LX, and the rest were either borrowed parents vehicles or from a car rental shop my cousin used to work at.
Also, as far as stock 4th gen's are concerned, I've never seen anything but a 4th gen EX 5speed coupe make it past 120, and barely at that.
