Axles for 400+ HP applications?
I've been trying to research to find aftermarket axles for the ITR for 400-500hp applications, but usually the heading says "All Integras except ITRs". SO, I was wondering if anyone knows of a good quality product out there made for the ITR that will handle this much power. Thanks

I spoke with them a while back and they seem very helpful and have sold to a few HC guys. Call them and see.

Very helpful, solicitious place. They supply heavy duty applications for both the USDM axle size and the slightly larger JDM axle size.
I'd certainly ring them up and see what's available; however, 500 HP might be a little too much even for them.
You might want to visit the drag racing forum and see what they are using for their applications.

my buddy runs raxles also(mid 11 sec civic 505hp) has now issues in the last 3 years.i i just finally switch my passengerside stock axle for a raxles HD axle and there are now problems yet. if you search on here thers also tons of info about gator axles and drive shaft shop axles. but for the money i dont think they can beat raxles price. give Marty a call, super nice guy to deal with.

That's actually great news, because I honestly RARELY drive hard, and really shy away from drag racing, so it's good to know that I might be OK with the stock ones for a while, anyway. I'd still like to upgrade just for security reasons but it's nice to know that it's not something I'll have to take care of like right now. Thanks again!

I have an odd point of view when it comes to axles, but I prefer that they be the weak link in terms of drivetrain components. IMO it is much cheaper and easier to repair axles than to rebuild trannies.
I guess I just need one more thing cleared up...when people run into the risk of snapping axles it's mostly due to hard launches and a lot of HP, right? Like, I have a lot less to worry about if I were doing mostly "from-a-roll" things than if I were launching from a dead stop?

i personally think its mostly hard launchs and wheel hop. i ran for 4 years on stock axles. i broke a stock one at the end of last year and i broke another stock axle mid way through this year. both times the car hooked really well. i ride the clutche on the launch but if the car hooks when i hit second thats when they broke, that was also after several times. so one axle a year i cant really complain. "from-a-roll" you shouldnt have anything to worry about.

A lot of people say to preload the drivetrain when launching the car from a stand still. In other words pull the ebrake up and let the clutch engage to the point where it is begining to grab, while keeping the car stationary... That way the drivetrain shock is greatly reduced and you decrease the chances of snapping an axle. That is if you are into trying to get a FWD car to go fast from a standstill.

Stan @ fast turbo gets Gator axles and they seem to be a pretty good product. They have a hybrid one that can bolt up to your stock hubs with no modifications for super high hp cars. I'm sure you'll find more info in the F/I forum.
