Default Has anyone ever put a y8 head on a b7 block?!?!!?!??!?!?!!!?!?!!!?!?!??!

i totally regret doing this mini-me. caused me nothing but headaches for the past 2 weeks!! im soooo pissed off at it, im about to rip it off there and throw it up against the wall.

it barely wants to start and when it does it doesnt run very good at all. very very rough. i have tried EVERY possible combination with it. trust me ive been working on it every day for the past week trying to get it running right. here is what it is: b7 block, y8 head, b7 dizzy, aem y8 cam gear.

i have tried moving the cam gear tooth by tooth, advanced and retarded the cam timing, adjusted the ignition timing, i even drilled out the feet on the b7 dizzy to get mroe adjustability.

when i put everything where it needs to be it runs like ****. the crank is at TDC, the cam gear is at TDC on the compression stroke andadvanced/retarded 5 degrees, and the ignition timing is on. do i have to use a y8 dizzy maybe?? i dont see why i would have to...

please please please please help me, there has to be someone out there that has put a y8 head on b7 block with a b7 dizzy.....at least i hope so. how did you get it running right???

B7 dizzy is the right one to use as far as I know...

I DO know that with the Y8 TDC is 12 degrees...so i'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. Are you using the B7 intake manifold/injectors?

its like its running on 2 cylinders. with the car running (if you wanna call it that) if i pull #1 or #4 spark plug wire, nothing changes or happens. if i pull #2 or #3 the engine dies.

spark and fuel is going to all cylinders...

?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????

wow thats messed up, not sure why that happened??? your set up is good though, I have d15b7 block w/ y8 head & intake manifold and used the d15b7 dizzy w/ no problem. keep us posted on your #4 cyl problem. I have never seen that happen before

well i had no other choice but to take the head back off. well it loks like one of the exhaust valves on #4 isnt seating all the way. there is a really small gap. is this whats causing all my problems? that explains that cylinder but it doesnt explain why #1 isnt working.

****, im pissed. looks like im gonna have to come up with all new valves, springs, retainers, seals.
or i might just trade this head for a z6 my friend has...
