Slow in the corners... :-(
Ok, my car's an h23 a/t, I thought it was decent until recently.. when I've been turning at higher speeds.. the car go's into the corner fast, but then doesn't really perform... is this just b/c it doesn't have an lsd? or is it b/c it's an automatic transmission and loses power? Or is it because on sever and fast turns.. the engine starves of oil? Or is it ALL 3? lol. Sucks, I cant wait till I do the 5spd swap and get an lsd.
Wow, what a sad title to a post! Anyway, the Prelude is not exactly a Miata and it's certainly heavier than a Civic but it should be no slouch in corners. I bought my 4th gens partly for the handling and I autox'ed my first one to victory (after lots of practice).
It should not be starved for oil in the corners. In two years of racing I don't think I ever had that happen.
You shouldn't go into corners too fast. That applies to any car, but especially on FWD, going in slower and then getting on the gas halfway through and tearing out of the corner is the fastest way. Power to the front wheels helps traction, due to weight transfer to the rear. You will always get a little better handling with some power applied. Of course, too much power in a tight turn and you'll spin the inside tire. That's where the LSD comes in.
Do that manual tranny swap. SAVE ITS SOUL!
And then get an SCCA membership and go autox as much as you can. You'll have fun and you'll learn a lot more about car handling than you could (or should) ever learn on the street.
See sig.

What do we have on the non lsd prelude's anyway? Open diff? I'm used to 240sx's and rwd drifting at e-town raceway park, but I'm DEFINATELY psyched about trying scca once my car is running great.
