When I start my car, everything seems ok. When the motor warms up, it start squeeking. It sounds like it's coming from the intake manifold area. Sounds like a bird. It mainly does it when i'm in gear, and when I turn off the engine(after it's been warmed up). When I turn off the engine, it squaks really loud and just cuts off. The squaking doesn't fade away, it all of a sudden stops when i turn off the motor. Would anybody have any idea what this is. I have NO idea what it is and it's fustrating b/c i can't fix it.

Actually, the noise happens in gear most of the time. Like, I'll be in 5th gear cruising, it'll just squak squak squak constantly. When I push the gas, it stops, but when I let off, it starts again. It doesn't get any louder, it's just constantly there.
It has to do something with heat. When the motor is cool, nothing happens. When it's warmed up, it makes the bird noise.

I had the same thing happen to me in my 96 Type-s.
The noise started at about 10% throttle and vanished at about 60-70% through WOT.
Very disturbing sound to hear.
I traced this particular whistleing sound to the shift linkage at the transmission end.
Both the washers that go between the white plastic spacers and the bushings were missing that explained in my case why I could only hear the noise when I was in gear and not when I would rev my engine at idle.
I found two slim washers that permited me to be able to drive the pin real snug trough the hole.

I dont see anything missing on my tranny shift linkage. It's weird. It also makes the noise when I turn off the engine too, while it's in nuetral. How can that make noise??
