Don't just get a "muffler"...thats ricey...get a full exhaust - if its in your budget. I tell everyone that the GReddy EVO exhaust is very quiet...and mean at the same time. Not that high-pitched ricey sound

Just add a resonator somewhere.....one or two....depending on your needs....you don't need a new muffler though.

Resonators don't make exhaust notes quiet so much as deep. I think they do reduce db levels slightly, but they make the note deeper and less buzzy.

RSR exmag. quietest exhaust out there.

the WS and EVO are fairly quiet too.

My HKS isn't loud, but it's not quiet. However, the cops don't seem to mind its current db level since i drive by them all the time and i'm yet to get a ticket for it.

of course, stock will be the quietest.

resonators will quiet it down. it functions like a muffler but a smaller version.

There are pros & cons to the resonators. Yes, they make the car quiter, but only outside. The resonator acts as a second muffler. The resonator + muffler both serve to quiet an exhaust that would normally be real ******* loud because it'd be a straight shot all the way out. So a resonator makes the car sound quieter as you're driving down the street (i.e. cops won't be as likely to pull you over).

The down side is that it makes the inside of the car twice as loud. A resonator will transmit the exhaust noise (resonance) through the chassis of the car. Resonators are usually placed about 1/2 way down the exhaust system (e.g. right under the front seats) and will create a droning noise that can be heard inside the car more than outside.

So...do you want the car quiet to those who are inside of it? Or do you want it quieter to other drivers as you're cruising down the street?

Just my $.02
