Default ATTS issues

2 weeks ago I noticed a fluid congregating on the bottom of my ATTS unit. I couldn't find out where the heck it was coming from so I took it to Honda. Honda has determined that, for some reason, the fluid is flowing out of a vent on the ATTS unit when pressure builds--they have no idea why this is happening. They think it may be an oil filter inside of the atts unit, which is not letting oil flow freely; however, this part is not available seperately of the ATTS unit. Pretty much the only option they're giving me is to buy a new Atts unit--$4,500.00.
Now, it doesn't even seem like the service department at Honda is absolutely sure this is the problem. This seems a little ridiculous to me and I am just looking for anyone who may have run into a similiar problem and, if not, if anyone knows where I can source a cheap ATTS unit. Thanks for any help.

If it were me, I'd say screw it and drive it like it is. According to the dealer, you're going to have to replace the atts anyway, so it's not like you're going to make things any worse. Just check the fluid level once in a while and add more if it needs it.

yea, i agree. thats crap! 4500 for an ATTS unit? christ the shortblock is like $2300!! weak. If it goes out, just buy another SH tranny from a junkyard and rock that!

dang I needed to see this 2 weeks ago, my roomies g/f just killed the tranny in her 97 SH and it was 2000 to rebuild it, but I guess its pretty much a brand new tranny. I would rather buy a low mileage part still, and the tranny shop spray painted the damn thing lol, looks like crap. I have pics of the destroyed parts though, will post soon.
