Ground Looped.....
Hey Guys:
In my all my years of riding I have never seen anyone ground loop a bike....Ive seen ALOT of close calls, but never someone actually loop it....
Last night was differnt.
There was about 15-20 of us on bikes and we were all riding a very nice road windy road...afterwards we were all doing some wheelies and endo's on about a 3 mile straight stretch...I was about a mile or so away so i don't exacly know what happened. I couldn't really hear his revs or anything but i see a guy go into a wheelie, up into 12 o clock, and then past 12 and he falls off the back of the bike landing flat on his back, meanwhile his bike bounces off one side, flips over and bounces off the other, and then slid into a ditch, writing it off completly.... (a brand new 05 raven r6)
Just so you guys know, the rider walked away. His Ego and his helmet seriously scarred. We all told him to go in for x-rays to make sure nothing serious happened...
My question for you guys is this.
Ive seen 1,000 guys do 1,000 wheelies but never seen anyone loop it, What the hell did this guy do wrong?? when he re-engaged the clutch was he bouncing off his rev-limiter or what?? thats the only way i could see a R6 ground looping. Anyway I'm not quite sure what to think about it, was preatty scary....Just curious as to what you guys think happened?? The way the guy who did it described it made no sense at all, but when you just cracked your head on pavement falling off the back of a bike alot of things probably seem blurry...
Take care guys, keep that rubber side down.

^^seriously^^ ive been riding for about 5 months now and i cant do a wheelie nor do i plan to anytime soon.
how long has he been riding for? and how long has he been doing wheelies? if he was new/unfamilar with the bike he probably gave it too much throttle or threw his weight back to much when it came up.

Too much throttle not enough speed.
Never liked wheelies, don't they slow down the approach to the next corner

Its easy to loop any modern 600cc+ sportbike. You dont have to rev an r6 to redline to loop it. He just went past the balance point and didnt brake or close the throttle in time.

Now theres an explanation that makes sense...I sappose as long as your moving fast enough its going to mean you run out of throttle before you loop it... Cool thanks again luke !

He lost it as he was too hard on the throttle with too much power available to him. If he had of been moving quicker or in a higher gear he would have had more of a chance to catch it.
Makes sense to me....eh, who gives a shxt, wheelies are for *****.
