Exhaust resonator removal question/purpose/performance
Alright guys, I guess my question is, will it benifit me in any way performance wise if I removed my exhaust resonator (that big pos right after the cat)? My car sits semi low and I just want to get rid of it because it's always catching speedbumps. I'm thinking about just cuting it out and welding a pipe inplace. I know it's gonna be louder as well (stock exhaust), but anybody know how loud it will be? I don't want it to sound like a damn rice mobile either. I like my **** quiet.
doubt it will increase the performance much at all, especially if it is a straight through resonator instead of the fish-scale one. I have seen a dyno where there was a 1whp loss with the resonator taken out. (probably just dyno inconsistancy)
If you like it quiet, get two lower profile resonators to replace the one big one.

if you dont want your car sounding like a "ricer" you shouldnt take out the resonator. You gotta slow down when you go through speed bumps anyway so jus slow down enough to not catch a speedbump, just my opinion.

removing the resonator from a stock exhaust won't make your car unbareably louder. it will be noticeably louder, but not like "ricer" or bad sounding IMO. the stock muffler is pretty baffled to cut down noise. remove it and save yourself some damage

I have the same problem with my resonator catching speed bumps. StyleTeg where can I get lower profile resonators? You have any pics?
