Default Price quote seem too high? I need opinions!

I just got a quote from a shop in Michigan.

Services and products:

Endyn\Eagle Rods
Rollerwave 12.5:1 pistons and rings
new bearings
balancing
honing
boring to fit pistons (not overbored)
Assembly labor

Price: $2100

Does that seem reasonable or should I try to talk it down some? I will probably take this route because id rather do it right than do it twice. Lemme hear your opinions. Thanks!

Take your time and do it yourself with a friend.
Or shop around some more.

But the guy i talked to said that when you use forged pistons you HAVE to rebore your cylinders... is that BS? Also the reason im taking it to a shop is I want the bottom end done RIGHT. I never want to have to open up the damn crank case again. I could do it, but no guarentees it would be done right.

Hi, you do not need to bore your cylinder walls to use forged rods. The machine shop will hone the cylinder walls ($40) for new pistons that are the bore as your cylinder walls. Also if he bores the walls, there no need ot hone it. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I just had my motor built with
Eagle Rods ($300)
Rollerwave Hi CR 81.5mm pistons ($450)
Main bearings & Rod bearings ($160 from Mike K)
Stock GSR Head Gasket ($70)
$675 for labor
I have move done to the motor that all fits your answer.
All parts were cleaned, micropolished the crank & balanced the engine. Bored out my cylinder walls. They put in my valve springs, retainers, cams & sprockets. They assembled my complete longblock. I got a good price on my work, I bought my parts before I took them to the machine shop. Good luck with your setup.

I say buy the parts yourself and ask around. Find a shop that isn't going to charge you an arm and a leg.

Also, when you get the pistons take them to a machine shop and have them balanced to within .001 grams.
