differance between d15b vtec and d15 non vtec
are the internals on the block different between the motors...and i want to swap my non-vtec for a vtec and add some turbo...should i go with jdm d15b vtec d16y8 or d16z6
the jdm d15 has a better r/s ratio than the us d15s and the d16s. youll get slightly more torque from the 1.6, but the y-motors(d16y7,y8,y5) all have reduced oil pump capacity (about 35%). i would suggest a d16z6. it has the best head design for FI, easier to find parts for and about the same price or less than a jdm d15b.
btw: check out d-series.org for ANY info you need. the people there are very helpful.

you should also take into consideration the fact that if you buy a d15b from a shop, it most likely doesn't have many miles in it unless it has been passed around. If it's directly from japan, they usually guarantee less than 40,000 miles or something like that.
A d16z6 on the other hand more than likely has a lot more miles on it.
just something to consider.
