ok why are skunk2 cam gears the same for 88-00 civic d series. but when i look at all the other brands of cam gears for d series the d16z6 and d16y8 ones are different.
i know the timing marks for the two different engines are different and that the cam gears are different, so how does skunk2 make a cam gear for 88-00 and thats it? how the hell does that work? is there timing and tdc marks for both teh z6 and y8 engine on there or something?

no, skunk2 has ONE GEAR for all 88-00 d series.
look at nopionline.com same part numbers for a 93 and a 96 civic. but all the other brands have different part numbers between the years. and i mean just look at any place that sells them.
HELL look at skunk2.com 88-00

Not to get off topic, but I've never seen a cam gear mutilated like in that thread. I have an older 3-bolt AEM gear, and not only has it never slipped like so many said it would with only 3 bolts, but its held up just fine. I don't want to place blame anywhere, but just because a part breaks doesn't mean its the manufacturer's fault. There could always be user installation error as well.
Back on topic, the skunk2 gear simply cannot be the same due to the timing differences. This was already said but I really just wanted to say something about the AEM gear bashing thats been going on all of a sudden.
