Have you checked the pressure plate at all? A broken pressure plate will cause the clutch not to disengage properly. Does it smell like the clutch is burning?

check your pressure plate, check the piece that makes the shift forks move up and down. it's held be three 10mm screws, if that plate is bendt you'll have a hard time getting it in gear!

I am having the EXACT same issue. The tranny doedn't grind, but finding the gears is difficult, like the linkage isn't lining up. I figured the shift fork or something was bent inside the tranny.

you probably broke the plate on part #4, i had a friend that tore the screws that hold that piece down. he could only get the car to go into 5th gear, and he drove it home from the track(60+ miles away)

yup my first gear was hard to put into at times... i thought i had a bad pilot bearing. but i found it was the slider forlk want bad. i heard its due to resting your hand on the shifter while driving???
