no vtec when hot...
so i been trying to diagnose this for a couple of days...started sunday night after a friendly street race and hitting a pretty decent bump.....anyways....after the car is fully warm and everything vtec will work for like 2-3 times then it will stop engaugeing and even at time it will be in vtec and just fall out...im thinking ots something with oil pressure but the light isnt on....ecu is good, the solenoid clicks, no check engine light.....i took a test light and hooked it up to the solenoid wire and at 4800 it lights up and lets me know juice is goin to the solenoid but there is no vtec...im running a virgen p28. no idea what to look for anymore. the oild pan has a minor dent but it has always been there and im running 10w40 oil....if any1 got any ideas please help.
ok because mine used to do that and I guess after a few really hard launches it like knocked the wires loose from the ecu, so I had to rewire it into the ecu. Maybe pull of the ecu cover and look at the wires and see if they are still connected properly.
Maybe you slightly dented your oil pan when you hit that bump, if the oil pickup tube is restricted at all, vtec can be totally cut off or works only now and again, as you need enough oil pressure.

yeah thats the only thing i can possibly think of, so today after work im dropping dat b*tch down and bangin it back straight, hopefully this will fix it, cuz it was good right before the bump.

so infact the crushed or dented oil pan was the cause of having no vtec....there was a mark on the inside of the pan where the oil pick up tube had touched, so i made it as perfect as possible and i have vtec all day
