Parking brake light comes on when starting up regardless of outside temp
I did a few archived searches and a few people had this problem and the common response/solution was to check my brake fluid level. So I did this afternoon and its between the min and max level. So my question to you is what else can I check. I had new pads put on a few months ago but the problem was there beforehand. I remember reading if i take apart the center console and look at the e-brake linkage, theres a lil plastic piece (i guess a sensor) that goes up and down and it may be getting stuck down. Another piece of info talked about brake lines and cold weather but thats not important here bc it happens when its warm outside too. Thanks toa ll who reply

I had the problem where the brake light would stay on in the morning when it was cooler (CA summer mornings, so we're talking 50s, 60s-ish), but once I got warmed up and going it went away. I read one place that it could be your brake fluid filter. I was going to try replacing that, but before I got the chance I had my front pads replaced and the problem went away. Does the light ever go away, or is it on all the time? Good luck.
i do have abs and above i said that the brake fluid in its resorvoir is where its supposed to be, between the min and max line. is there an ABS brake fluid i should be checking

Yes, there is a second reservoir for the ABS system, on top of the ABS actuator, usually on the oposite side of the engine bay to the brake master cylinder. First of all though I'd suggest topping up the brake fluid to the max level.
If that does nothing just sit and work the handbrake a few times, see does it flicker or go off, that'll tell you soon enough if it's that linkage.
Hope this helps
