Default d17 return fuel setup...this will work i hope. Any thoughts/experiances

So i am setting up my little brothers 02' ex for boost and figured i would tackle the return line issue first. I had to do this back in the day on my neon (this was pre srt-4) so i have a good idea of what needs to be done.

Parts:

STR fuel rail
B&M Pressure gauge
5/16 (i think) hard line
2 feet +/- fuel line
Aeromotive fpr

We are going to install everything as we would on a b series, and run a hard line back to the filler neck, which is where we will tap for the fuel return line.

I will have pics when its done, any thoughts?

Isn't D17 originally a return-less setup ?

Yes, this is the problem.

I too have a returnless arrangement, and it can be a PITA. However if you really think about it, a return-style and a returnless fuel system are effectively the same. The difference is the location of the FPR and return line. In the returnless these devices are in or near the fuel tank. I have never seen the guts if a D17 fuel system, but I know in my car I have access to all of these goodies through an access port under the rear bench.

Yes it is a return-less system, which creates trouble for people @ a certain psi (from what i have read)

To eliminate the problem i am going to put in an aftermarket rail, injectors, fpr and run a hardline back to the tank and tap into the filler neck (i haven't crawled under there yet but this is where i did it on my old neon )

We are going to post pics step by step once i get all his parts together. This is going to be fun! I think 10 psi on the d17 with the gt28r should do well....i guess we will find out. Haha

check out my signature for some pictures. BTW im almost positive that the fuel rail your TRYING to use wont be a direct bolt in. Im fairly certain that nobody has a fuel rail out thats ready to ship that will bolt on. Its much easier and cheaper to just weld a bung on the fuel rail

i just picked up a y8 manifold/tb/injectors for 50 bux. I have an STR d-series rail that will fit.

Your install doesn't look bad, i just want something a little cleaner. Not a fan of the welded fittings.

We should have all the stuff before the end of the month. Watch for pics

So you are a quitter..? I hope you don't plan on putting the b-series in your 02'

My brother likes his 02' and he doesn't want a supercar or else he would sell the civic. He want's a little more power and girls his age think the BOV is cool..

Thanks for sharing your inability to complete your project though

I have a turbo d17 and for the returnless fuel system you are going to need to plug the regulator in tank. best change the fuel pump, and you'll have to modify the assemble soe to make it fit. Also the y8 Mnaifold it going to take some custom fabrication to fit the d17. It has been done though. but i've only seen one person do it.
