Hello,

So I got the b16a2 on the engine stand in the kitchen (gotta love my wife for allowing this). I'm putting things back together, and I think I messed up somewhere regarding the sensors. i'll have to take pics and post them after work.

Basically when I pulled the motor, I unscrewed 2 of the sensors behind the block and left them dangling from wires in the engine bay. one is a skinny one that I believe is for oil, and the other is a fat one that i believe is knock related...?

anyway i already found a fat one and put it near the oil filter, but then when i was looking for the oil sensor i relized i left it in the engine bay...but then i saw another fat sensor in the bay as well, so wtf is the fat sensor for that i already put in the back of the block (i believe it took a 21mm socket to install)?

anyway who can help me out with the following:

how many sesors are there on a 2000 Si? where do they all fit? what do they look like? what do they all do? pics would be great.

 

i took some pics but then my batteries died before i could transfer them. i wont waste your time with camera phone pics either.

i did notice this. in the haynes manual one of the pics shows the Crankshaft Position Sensor is up by the distributor. i checked the fuel rail and i dont have anything to bolt the sensor to, but i did see this: there is a hole in the head that is sealed with an allen bolt, it is right between the dizzy and the manifold - could this be where this sensor goes?

 

the motor is still on the stand. i need to know what these sensors are and where they go. bear with me. i tried to resize the pics so they are bearable. also notice the bolt up/right of the filter, the shop put that there, is it supposed to be there, or does a sensor go there? i seem to be short a hole...i'm lost...but i'm so close to finishing, please help!

 

the pic with the sensor in your hand is the oil pressure sensor

It goes in the hole right next to the oil filter
The knock sensor goes in the hole above the oil filter above the water pipe

Im putting together a b16a2 also.I need to find some kind of diagram or pic showing where all the little coolant hoses and vacuum lines go back there.

 

hey wait a sec - there are 2 different shots of different sensors in my hand - which are we talking about?

 

the one with the plug still on it and in your hand is oil pressure..sensor in hand without plug..knock

can anyone tell me about the bolt just to the upper right side of the filter?

 

The first sensor in the pics is the oil pressure switch for the dummy light on the gauge cluster. The second one is the coolant temperature sending unit for the gauge cluster. The third one is the knock sensor which goes in the threaded boss right below the intake manifold stud.
I believe that bolt you wondering about might be for the intake manifold support bracket. I am not 100% percent though.

the oil pressure sensor has a hole in the end of it, the knock sensor does not. easy way to tell the 2 apart
