Default car exhaust too loud

have a 94 GSR with a really loud exhaust.

my set up is

2.5 piping from kteller. Mugen 2.5 4-1 header, 14" resonator, dynomax oval muffler, and 2.5 carsound cat.

I am not concerned with the outside noise level, but inside the car is very very loud. At this point I am not concerned with performance and would like to lower the noise level.

My question is, what can I do to lower the noise level inside the car mainly, but also overall if I can.

I have the same exhaust setup, minus the cat.

At first i had no resonator either.. rah talk about loud

I've grown acustom to it, mainly b/c mine is only really loud while im accelerating, if im just cruising it just kind of hums..

I'd say maybe a different muffler, with more restriction

Your setup is nice, but to tone it down a bit and keep the performance, get a twin-loop muffler, or for alittle less performance, a quality chambered muffler.

Apexi sells the world sport muffler w/o pipings and so do comptech with it's muffler only. just change the muffler with either of these brands and you will be fine. But if you want the ultimate quietness go stock.

thanks for all the replies. I am going to look for leaks first, but I don't think that is the problem.

could I be receiving noise from the short air intake? Just a thought, because it seems to come from the front of the car.

If I can't solve it when looking for a leak, I will put some sound deading in the doors first, then some on the back seats of the car.

I agree with the one post, it is only when the throttle is fully pressed, but that is the way I drive on the highway, and at 80mph, it is loud. I have to pop my ears every 10 mins or so and I drive over 3hrs every Friday and Sunday.

Don't get me wrong, it sounds very deep, but it is too deep. sounds like my old twin 15" Elemetal design set up is playing half volume over a 3 hour trip. And I need my hearing.

Try adding a larger resonator (20+ inches), and/or another resonator.

This is going to be your best bet for the interior.
