Default your favorite strut?

im in the market for new struts before i put my springs on. just seeing what everyone has. why you have them. and why you like or dislike them. im kinda being torn in 6 different directions. i just want some real life comments .. not someone trying to sell me stuff so their webpage has a better profit off of selling junk parts.

Just curious as to why you would want to put struts on a car that uses shocks?

actually integras uses strut... shocks are for car that don't have the spring sitting on them. for our hondas... since the springs sit on the shock, they are called strut.

It seems that you have also been misinformed. I'll try and dig up a couple of good threads on the topic.

is it edumacation time?
almost all hondas use shocks. all integras except 1st gens use shocks, which i think have struts on the front and shocks on the back.
a strut is a locating member of the suspension. a shock is not. that's why integras have knuckles. if you take off a strut, it will change the range of motion. if you take out a shock, the knuckle will still control the range of motion.

thank you.

ok guys. this is great ... WHATEVER THE **** THEY ARE CALLED!!!! what brand and model do you run on your car, why do you like it, and is it a resonable price? im not rich here and i just need a good strut/spring/shock whatever setup. ive got my h&r sports siting here looking at me but i dont want to put them on old *** shocks/struts.

in all honesty ... keep fighting about it. because then maybe someone like me will learn right from wrong. but at the same time ... just tell me the BRAND you are using and if you like it or dislike it

kyb agx - the good thing about it is it's externally adjustable. I set it on 1(softest) for daily driving and then bump up the firmness for events. The not so good part of it is it doesnt handle aggressive drops well. Any drop over 1.5", kyb will not award warranty. It does not handle higher springrates well. Dont get me wrong, it's a good shock (especially if you want compromise of street/track use), just not a great shock.

what is the h&r sport? isnt it 1.7 or something? i mean .. even at 2" .... and you mentioned after 1.5 the warrenty is void ... how much can the ride and handling be affected with .5" different? (max .5 at that)

The KYB's really aren't bad for the money. It's true that they're very limited in their capabilities but they are a nice upgrade if they're replacing the stock shocks. You can always look to further improve the handling elsewhere (ex: alignment, tire pressure, weight, etc).

how would ground controls and illuminas be? only asking because I already have the illuminas and dont want to dish out another $500 for shocks when I have some already.

gr2's are designed to be stock replacements

kyb agxs get soft really fast. you cannot loewr the car more then 1.75" or it will void the warranty.

if you cannot afford it, then it is not meant for you.
