Default Cost of changing the transmission fluid

My 02 Accord Coupe is at around 25,000 miles and I want to replace the transmission fluid. I called my dealer and they said that it would cost around $180 to do it. I didn't think it was going to be that expensive even with labor. I had figured it would cost about as much as changing the engine oil. Maybe there was a miscommunication somewhere.

its a pretty easy DIY job... just unbolt the drain plug on the tranny, and then unbolt the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) on the top part of the tranny from the engine bay, and pour the fluid in there with a funnel. put back together and done. just did 2 of them this weekend took about 6 minutes each.

A DRAIN will be like 50 bucks.

A FLUSH will be around 100.

What they are offering for 180? Who the hell knows. Find another dealer.

When I had a dealer do this, I had them do a strain test because of my auto tranny not shifting quickly enough. I went this route instead of a regular ATF change because the cost is the same and the strain test will tell if there are any metal shavings in the ATF to indicate internal tranny damage. It came out as dirty fluid so the tranny is checked to be good. But anyway, the cost of drain & fill or this strain test cost around $59 at the dealership. For $180, you're probably doing a 30K mile service instead, which includes air filter, tire rotation, oil change, and all kinds of other maintenance items.

tranny fluid change should only be around 25-30 dollars .. 02.,, 25k you dont need a flush ,,,,,,,ask what the 180 covers ,,like it was stated maybe they are trying to sell u the 30k .....and if you plan on doing the 30k when time comes it should include a tranny fluid change so dont spend the money now
