Ways to make car harder to tow away?
In recent threds we've pretty much concluded that no alrams, kill switches, detachable steering wheels will prevent from getting your car stolen if somebody wants it bad enough! All a thief has to do is slide your car on a flatebed or tow truck and he's gone. I'm wondering what can we do to make it more difficult for them to tow? Does turning the wheel the full way to left or right and locking it do anything. Can they tow it from the front or back, is it better to park with the car facing forward in spots or backwards. I always park waaaay out in the middle of nowhere to avoid door dings, but I guess that's not a smart idea? What about leaving the car in gear? Any other ideas?
Nothing. They get underneath and hook chains to the frame and tow the car onto the flat bed. I don't think I would give a **** about tires when I am getting a whole car would u?
The best thing would be to park where you can see the car. Other than that, hope your not that big of a target.

Leave it in gear....
Leave the steering wheel turned so that if they tow from behind, it won't go on straight.....
Parking brake up to slowly prevent towing from the from.....

A friend of mine was at a mall and decided park illegally and along with it he explained to the people (a couple of girls he was trying to impress) in his truck (ford exploder) how to park without getting towed. He said always park next to an expensive car or a concrete pole. Turn your wheels so that the truck will hit the pole or car next to you. Always leave it in gear (or park) with the E-brake on.
So they go into the mall and walk around for a bit (maybe see a movie)... Whatever... so they come back out of the mall and sure enough the truck is GONE!!! LMAO ROTFL LOL The funniest thing I had ever heard. Plus the fact that the girls were far from impressed and totally tore into him for it. They kept asking, "Well how do you not get towed again?" Hee hee. Turns out mall security towed the car to east bumble f*** and tore the plates off it. He had to go to the security office pay the big *** fine and get his plates.
So the girls still make fun of him for it. I thought it was pretty funny

With nothing obstructing access, a flatbed will tow a car no matter what. And no, putting your car in gear will not prevent them from towing (seen it done).
Maybe some wheel boots on all fours?

i think if their about to take your car and load it on a flat bed.. they wont care that its in gear, has e-brake on, etc... their just going to winch it up onto the flatbed anyway.. they wont care that the tires are dragging...
i guess if your parallel parking on a street it would be harder if your not the first or last car on the curb.. if theres other cars in front and in back of you.. it should make it harder to tow..
but seriously.. if they want your car.. let it have an alarm, autoloc, be in gear, e-brake up, wheels turned, etc... they are going to get it if they are determined to.. = (

the only way i've seen where a car couldnt be towed. was when it was too low to get my hand underneath to hook the towhook up. and that was a paying customer who's engine died! had to have 2 people lift the front end up and that was hard cause the wheels were soo close to the fenders.

someone allowed you to lift their frontend from the fenders??? Major no no, fenders are not jacking points. To be honest, there is really no way to prevent from getting towed if you are on the street ot in a lot. Thieves have been known to flat tow with another vehicle, a tow truck is not necessary. Get some type of pager to alert you when someone touches the car. If you have a driveway, get a driveway pole so that the car cannot be pulled out by a truck or another car.
