Default 00 ITR #510, dead?

its possible it finally happened. started her up, and she stalled. turned her over again, and she would hold an idle, but very weak. not at 19-21 in vacuum like usual either. no smoke at idle, but if you give it some gas, she starts smoking. no turbo noise either. no piston slap, no valve tapping.

options that my co-workers and i have come up with:

1. timing belt jumped a tooth or two. would explain the missing.

2. piston ringlands shot. previous blocks wouldnt even idle when the ringlands went out though..

3. turbo blown. this is the one im leaning toward. the smoke that comes out smells like excess gas and oil. when i took the filter off, the cold side of the turbo wheel still moved...

fun with forced induction.

cliff notes: turbo R down for the count?

do a compression test, when my stock motor went (pisont ring), it was blowing smoke out the valve cover, low compressoin on #3

ive blown up two b18b1's in my previous car, both were piston rings, and they made a LOT of noise..

i guess its possible though....

My ringland was a silent failure. Lots of blowby, and eventually it sucked enough oil to foul the plug.

Look at your plugs yet?

im thinking possibly mild build.....as long as the cylinder walls arent too torn up. rods & pistons....definitely, more boost on the way..

There's people making STUUUUUUUUUUUUPID power on stock sleeves. I'm sure you know this already.

Stay away from the block guard crap too, I wouldn't mess with it personally.

Oh well, get the plugs off, that'll give you a BIG clue what's wrong. A compression tester from NAPA or anywhere isn't too expensive either, I carry one in my toolbox.

dont cry...

she was a good block.....she lasted quite some time. if id realized the boost gauge had gone bad, it wouldnt have come to such an abrupt end.

she's gonna come back to life, dont worry......MUCH quicker too...he he he..

just pay attention to your boost gauge. if it doesnt read 0 when you turn off the car, its broken.

i was pushing 21 psi for about 3 months after the headgasket repair.
