Hey guys, my friend recently bought some 17-inch Tenzo R and we tried hours to install it, but we never got it installed. The shock is Tein, (adjustable ones) so we raise it and lower it many times but one of the tires is always too low. Is 17-in too big for 2000 Si or do you guys think the shocks and springs are busted? Any idea?

 

What do you mean, the tires are too low? Put air in them? I'm confused to what you are saying.

The 17"s should fit, just don't lower the car too much, it may rub.

How do you spend hours "attempting" to install wheels?? Wow.

 

yea, it takes maybe 20 mins. if your by yourself. maybe the car is too low???

I agree. People have stuffed 19" rims on civics. What is the exact problem here?

I'm confused about what the problem is, too. Maybe he is just not raising the car up enough ti fit them, without rubbing.

Wait, maybe the tire size is wrong and its rubbing insanely? I don't know, we need more details.

 

Ok, when my friend and I tried to adjust the front two tires, it was about one finger gap. That was good. Then the back tires seems too low. When we adjust the back tires, the front becomes too low. we had the same problem over and over.

You adjusted the tires? What? You mean you adjusted the height of the coilovers? Keep playing with it, you'll get it eventually.

Now that I think about it, if it took you hours to get this far, you might as well take it to someone who knows a little bit more about this than you do.

Actually, now that I think about it, my grandmother lives in your area.. I'll give her a call, she can probably change a tire for ya.

Tried that up and down.

 

When adjusting your coilovers after adjusting one part move the car forward and backward maybe 5-10ft and then jounce the car where you made height adjustments. I.E.(Take your adjustment tool and adjust the driverside rear to the height you want. Move the car forwards and backwards. Then Bounce the Driverside rear and measure.) Do that to the rest of the corners next with the passenger rear, driverside front, and passenger front. Re measure everything after you have made your adjustments. It takes a long time to get ride height correct but relax. Make sure that there is a load on the spring and that it isnt loose from the hat.

 

what tires do you have on - sidewall - heights etc- 17's with 60's wont fit lol - need some 45's or 40's no fattys allowed !

 

sounds like what he is trying to say is, he installed the WHEELS and is now trying to adjust the COILOVERS. It isn't rocket science man, just put the wheels on the car, preset your coilovers before you let the car down and then make adjustments from there.

17" is not too big and it could be possible that you have blown shocks. To determine that, check for leaks around the shock or pull the shock out and push down on the shaft to see if there is pressure.

Any idea?

Raise the coil over to the highest setting and adjust accordingly.

I think reading this thread made me dumber. . . good lord, how is putting on tires hard? I have 17s on my 97 and it took 15 mins for me to do it myself. oH, my head hurts.

Raise the coilovers all the way up. Install the wheels, lower accordingly.

Just having trouble-installing 17 in wheels by adjusting the COILOVERS in the right spot.

 

I used to run 17's on my '99. They fit, I just had to use a really low profile tire.

 

You should be running 205/40/17s. Anything bigger, and its going to rub.

 

oooo ok i get it. ya my buddy dana had 17s on his 99 si and they rubbed BAD. when he pulled out of his driveway sometimes the tire even hit the fender. it actually started to rust cuz it would get a little bend and chip the paint

 

Mr. hanes doesnt say anything about adjusting tires


just raise the car all the way up on all four corners then screw around w\ the coilovers that is if the tires aren't too big

 

set the coils all the way up so then it will fit
