d16y7 block/head, d16y8 ecu harness,compatible??
I blew the motor in my 96ex civic, and I changed it with a d16y7 head/block.( It was sittingin garage, it was my bros so it was free)I didnt change the ecu or wiring harness. The car works, but it kinda bogs every now and then in low rpms, and wont pass around 5500rpms.
any one know if the ecu harness are ok to use, or have any ideas?????
any help appeciated.

Compare the IACVs between the Y7 and Y8 engines. The Y7 is a 3 wire plug, is the Y8 a 2 wire plug?
If they are different, I wonder if the Y8 intake manifold will fit the Y7 head? (Because I don't think you can just swap the IACVs)
Otherwise you might need to swap out the P2P ECU for a P2E and rewire the harness a little bit.

I have the y7 ecu and harness, my y8 head is messed up.I jent it to some guy to get it shaved, and when I put it on, valves started hitting the pistions.I heard he shaved it to short. I noticed the whole lip on the bottom is completly shaved off.All the valves bent.Thats why I used the y7 head.
I have this SAME exact problem with my car. Blew my y8, dropped in a y7...now car doesn't rev past 5500 and kinda bogs every now and then. Everyone says its theECu since Im using the y8 vtec one. would the y7 non vtec ECU plug in and work?
use the y7 ecu. you will stop throwing codes and it will work 100% better. the ecu is still looking for vtec/oil pressure. and yes it will plug and play. peace! got some change?
