Default Tire Wear

Got a problem.......
97 ex coupe
1.5 inch drop all the way around. 15x6 w\205 50s
tire wear on inside rear is really bad and front inside is a little bad
Had an alignment done about 6 months ago by honda, the day after I bought new tires.
Now the same issue....just took a little longer.
my question is.....should an alignment be able to fix this.... ( so I just got a crappy alignment job )
Or do I need a camber kit?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

sounds like you alignment may not be good,
or you have something wrong

1.5" drop with a stock toe settings should not be eating tires within 6 months

Toe will kill a tire faster than camber

excessive toe + excessive camber = excessive tire wear

did they adjust the toe during said alingment? Camber just changes which part of the tire wears faster, toe changes how quickly the tires wear.

That toe is still messed up. It may be 'within spec' but it's still pretty bad. It should be 0.

I did my own alignment a few weeks ago, and called 1/8" out good enough because I got tired of messing with it. It ate my tires up, even though it was within spec, set it to 0, and they've been fine since.

Hmm I have run with 1/8 toe out up front for years and seen no adverse wear.

As far as the person who start the thread, the 1 inch toe out is a but much, the should get the closer to 0. Camber is still with in spec as most honda's -1.5 is the limit of the spec.

So my question is.....should an alignment shop be able to set the toe at 0? or is an aftermarket product need to set it correctly with my setup?

Yes. If I can do it laying on my back in the driveway using toe plates and a 10' tape for measurement; they should be able to with their computer alignment gizmos.

To set the front toe, the tie rod has a threaded section with a locknut to move the wheel in and out with respect to the vehicles centerline. The rear has a nut with a slotted hole that will allow you to move the trailing arm in or out. These can be set very precisely.

Yeah, I figured it shouldn't be a problem, but I did get wear. Maybe because of my camber? Either way, I just leave it at 0 for the street, then turn the tierod two flats when I get to the track.

There's nothing really else to be said. Your toe is off. Toe wears tires.

Take it back to the shop and get it re-aligned.

j/w, the numbers you were giving, is that in inches or in degrees because where i work, we use a Hunter laser aligner and its in degrees which gives more room because the one degree will be less than an inch typically.
