Valve adjustment
Hi all,
i'm new to this, and wanted to know if i can get some advise.
I have a 96 civic ex..I've been told that I need a valve adjustment done due to some pinging noise, but when I spoke to a technician at a nearby autobody repair shop, he said that its rare for my car model to need an adjustment. He advised me to just get some additive to clean/clear valves?!?!
any help/advise is greatly appreciated.

Um he told you wrong, At least with our cars (ITR's) it's recommended every 15k. Some do it more some less. But it is something that should be done. A pinging noise may be something different though. Usually when you need a valve adjustment you hear clicking of the valves. Most Honda's you can hear the clicking even after an adjustment is done but after time has passed it get's louder. I would say take it somewhere else and get a second opinion.
Thanks Dave_B...I'll get a second opinion.
BTW, i think it's a clicking sound that they're referring too :-)....pinging/clicking...arg, they cant describe the issue to clear :-)
Thanks again...
