brakes...
90 lx,
I've been having issues with my car since the wheels started to get really hot after driving even 5 kms. Since then I got new OEM rotors, pads and had the bearings inspected by the mechanic. Still when driving i hear this slight sound as if something (pad) is touching the rotor slightly. When I slightly hit the brake pedal the sound dissapears, but after releasing it it comes on again. Besides I have replaced 2 sets of pads in 8 months.
Now question; do you guys think this might be the piston not releasing the pads after braking? What else might be wrong there?
Thanks!

I have the same problem with noise when not braking. My problem is my calipers are rusted to hell and need to be replaced. Caused uneven wear on the brake pad and warped the rotor. It's taken me almost a month to get the calipers since I went with the cheapest internet company I could find and they are totaly incompetent.
thank you all guys. My calipers are not in their best condition but i will get the rebuilt ones and replace them as soon as i can.
how can I check if I have a problem with the main cylinder?

Are we talking about the front brakes? Take a front wheel off & check this stuff...
When you're NOT pressing the brake pedal, you should be able to get fluid to flow back to the MC reservoir. Check this by levering on the caliper to compress the piston & give the pads extra space. (Get it?) If you can do this, the MC is not screwing up in the manner Stealthman is talking about.
Now then, check whether the caliper slide pins are OK. They need to be lubricated so they don't stick & allow the brakes to release.
Check how the brake pads are installed in the caliper bracket. If they are really tightly wedged in place, that might be the problem. They need to be able to release. Sometimes I have to scrape the paint off of new pads so they can slide properly.
If the brakes have been dragging for any of those other reasons, maybe the calipers have been overheated & now the pistons are sticking in their cylinders. So if the pistons are sticking, don't quit there. Make sure you check all the other stuff too.
