d16y8 with d16z6 head?

Default d16y8 with d16z6 head?

have a cracked ringland in my #4 cylinder in my d16z6 and now its time for a rebuild. my friend hydrolocked his d16y8 motor thats he willing to give to me. would a d16y8 block with a z6 head be a good combo? what would be diffrent with that combo compaired to a d16z6? thanks in advance

It would be a pretty good setup. That would work fine for you. The compression would be different. Thats about it.

The z6 block is a better one than the y8 block because there are problems with the y series oil pumps that can cause oil starvation to the block.

Its been done before. Good for compression, I was going to post my friend's setup, then I realized his is the opposite. y8 block with z6 head. Mill the head a little more, it'll bump it up a tad more.
