Default D16Y8 Head on D16Z6 block?

Question is, will it work? and which headbolts do i use?

I'll be acquiring a d16z6 bottom end pretty soon and I was going to just throw my y8 head on it when it's assembled but I was talking to two of my friends, and they said that there is a difference in headbolts, etc. one said that the d16z6 headbolts would be too long for the y8 head and that you couldn't use y8 headbolts in the z6 block. anyone ever done that combo? or does anyone know which ones i should buy?

I believe the thread pitch is the same, but one is too short and one is too long...(you weren't planning on reusing them, were you?!) However, studs (such as ARP) are the same for all d-series, I believe.

that's the thing... i need to know for sure.

i do plan on using ARPs btw. But there are two different part #'s... one for d16z6 and one for d16y8.

yea i think arp has different head studs for y8 and z6. people say the y8 head/z6 block combo should theoretically be the best of both worlds, but not that i think of it, i'm not sure i've seen or known anyone have it actually done yet. im sure theres a way tho
