99-00 civic SI front end conversion question
I know to fit a 99-00 civic SI front end onto a 96-98 civic you would need 99-00 parts of hood, fenders, headlights, front bumper, lip...........
but what exactly is stopping the front bumper from going onto a 96-98 civic? Is it just slight fitment gap? or is it more than that? isnt it possible to cut and bend a front bumper to make it fit, etc?

All that **** you just named, the hood, fenders, headlights, grill... None of those things from a 96-98 would line up with the 99-00 front bumper. I suppose in theory you could **** with the bumper enough to make it work, but the 96-98 headlights still look like ****.
By the way this is like the #1 subject in this forum, if you search you will find about 200 threads on it.

True dat. I see them everyday.

You have to cut notches on the bumper near where the grille meets the headlights to get the 99-00 bumper to fit on the 96-98 radiator support.
yes i know there are lots of postings regarding the conversion, but none that state a 99-00 bumper fitting into a 96-98 fender, hood, headlights..........
can someone confirm? so basically cut away the notches near the grill of a 99-00 civic front bumper and it will align with the 96-98 civic fenders, hood, headlights?

No, you can't have 99-00 bumpers with 96-98 headlights, fenders, hood, and grille.

Why would you do this? Alot of work, with so little difference. You're going to have gaps everywhere. The two openings in the front bumper don't make it look much better. You still have the 96-98 headlights.

only reason i am thinking about it is because I have a 96-98 front that is really badly scratched up and i see a local selling same color 99-00 front bumper with grill. ........

Ok then, buy it, then buy some fenders, and headlights, and a hood and let that be the end of it.
