Default LS Tranny w/ All Motor

Well, my B16 tranny w/ Phantom Grip LSD blew the hell up, and my only option was to replace it with an LS tranny.

It isn't all that bad, but it's not as fun because I can't spin 1st-3rd anymore, but the power seems like it's more usable.

Anyway, what is everybody's opinion on the LS gearing for All motor?

Did you notice much of a difference on the track?

LS gears are just too long and drawn out

I have the LS tranny on mine. My only real complaint is 1st gear is entirely too long. Other than that I like the longer gears. I spin 1st and 2nd, but I still want a B16 transmission for a better launch, closer 1st and 2nd.

On the other hand, on the long twisty roads I really do like the LS

Well, I actually like the LS 1st gear.. the B16 1st gear was pretty much useless for me. On the street, all I got out of it was wheel spin. It hooked up with slicks, but I was out of 1st gear pretty quick. I put down 190whp. The power definately feels more useable, but I don't really know what it did to my performance unless I go to the track. I probably won't be out there for a while, because it's wayyy too hot out here.

Intrested to see what happened to other people's times.

LS trannies suck *****! All hondas have the same first gear(3.23), but after that the LS has longer gears all the way to 5th; not to mention the longer FD.

Find you another B16 tranny! From my experience it made a big difference. The LS tranny will slow you down.

i mean look how big of a difference a b16 tranny makes when u put it on an ls...u might not feel like the car is much slower but i bet that once u run it down the track ur gonna be buyin another b16 tranny shortly after....i actually had this kid tryin to tell me that an ls tranny is better for all motor applications....so i asked him to explain...yall shoulda seen the look on his face...****** priceless...and the bullshit he came up with had me laughin my *** off

By how much? I guess it just feels better because I don't get as much wheelspin as I used to...

i cant imagine how much slower an ls is than a b16 or 4.7 b16/itr tranny.

I went from a gsr tranny to a b16 with 4.7 final drive and went from an 8.65 at 81 to an 8.39 at 84mph. I even went from 20" slicks on the gsr tranny to 22" on the new tranny. So yeah, shorter gears definitly make a difference on NA

Damn.. my fastest run was 13.49@101 with the B16 tranny on 20" slicks with a 1.9 '60.. I guess I probably won't be going any faster.

Another question.. are ALL LS trannys the same? My tranny is an "S1"

Honestly dont be surpised if you run a 14.1 or a 14.2 at teh track next time. The LS tranny will slow you down, big time.

It made .5 sec of a difference for me in the 1/4 mile!

A lot of useful tranny info there.

Looks like I have the LS tranny with a 4.4 final drive. Comparable to the Hydro GSR.. so maybe the tranny isn't too bad after all. Oh well, I'll find out when I go back to the track in the fall.

Try this. The cable does have a 4.40 FD but it has longer gears than a LS hydro tranny except for 5th.
