changing the oil pan gasket...
whats the bet way to do the oil pan gasket to assure no leaks? i used copper rtv last time, but to much i guess.. still leaking in spots... what is the best way to line it up without messing it up?
Lay the new gasket out flat for a day or 2 so it doesn't try to curl up when you install.
Make sure the old gasket didn't leave behind any steel rings around the bolt holes.
Only a tiny bit of hondabond (or grey permatex). Too much will lubricate the gasket, then it squirms out of position when you tighten.
Don't overtighten the bolts. Look up the torque for yourself, or say what kind of car, but it's not very tigh. There might be a tightening sequence, too.
