If you want to do it right you will need a manual steering rack, otherwise it will be a bitch to turn. If you want to do it ghetto then remove the pump and cap the lines. If you want to do it really gheto then just remove the belt.

if you want to do it right , you dont need a manual rack... first you empty half the fluid out of the rack, you loop off the lines , and if you want you can install a breather so that air doesnt get trapped...

Well I just removed the belt from my '97 ex and I even had heavy *** "18s on it for awhile and it was never a bitch to turn I could open palm crank the wheel with one hand at a complete stop with no problem. I always meant to actually loop the lines but never got to and it hasn't been a problem so I don't worry about it.

The car drives 100% better without powersteering it feels more sterdy at high speeds and in mtn corners I don't even know why they put power steering on a civic.

If however your doing this for more power it's a waste of time you won't even notice it and I'd say your lucky if you got 1hp from it. So if you weak in the upper body don't bother leave it alone
