Default wtf is wrong with my head unit

I own a Pioneer DEH-770MP with a 2000 integra.

Lately, my head unit has been acting weird. When I hit bumps or at completely random times, it woudl shut off, then a second later turn back on.

Today, I was listening to it and all of a sudden the sound got really grainy and crappy.. it kept decreasing in volume until it started shutting off, turning back on after a seocnd, and shutting off again after another second. It kept repeating and no matter what I did (restart car, take off faceplate and put back on) it wouldn't stop.

Does anyone know wtf is wrong?

Oh, and when I installed it, for some reason the wiring harness coming from the car was the older one.. i think for 93-97.. could that have anything to do with it?

check your wiring again....make sure that none of your speaker wires are grounding out....is there a chance that any of your speakers are blown? also check the fuse on the back of the HU.

Yea, I don't think they changed the plugs on the 99 00 tegs the body style was the same as 94 to 98 and no it would not have anything to do with it as long as the adpt. harness that was used was the one that fit. your problem could be in the HU itself, but more then likely it's a wiring problem, I would pull the HU out of the dash and have a close look at the wiring, making sure there are no bare wires or connections, and that all the connections are good, make sure the wires did not get "pinched" under the the back of the HU and the dash sub frame. 94

i had this problem with my setup and linked the problem back to my amplifer pulling to much power through the remote wire.i was told that a relay can solve this problem. Mine went away when i got rid of the amp. Also does it do it after high volume play for a while that was another sypmtom of mine
