i just bought an 88 crx. it has two codes on the ecu: 1(02 sensor) and 20 (electrical load sensor). The cars will start and run good if you keep your foot in the gas, but as soon as you let of the gas it justr dies. it's like there is no idle at all. i don't thing the o2 sensor can be causing this and i have no idea what an eletrical load sensor is or what it does ar how it can affect a vehicle. the car has all four headlight burned out can this cause eletrical load sensor(ELS) codes? will the ELS cause the car to not idle? do you think it could be the idle air control valve?
the cars is an 88 crx non si in completly factory trim. and it has feul injection on it.

well i cleaned all the grounds i found on the engine but i haven't had a chance to see if it is still throwing the code. what does the ELS do? how will it affect my car? do you have any ideas about the other problems?

there should be 4 grounds on ur engine on on the valve cover another by the battery then the thermo stat and i think there is one by the tranny

 

bump cuz i also have the same code combination at times. but its mostly just the code 1 now.

 

how does the code combo affect the way the car is running? should I be looking for something else to fix the problem with it not ideling?

eld does not affect operation of engine, it is built in to the underhood fuse box so if your headlights are all burned out maybe there was some electrical damage done, the car should still idle with the o2 not hooked up, hold the gas pedal down and let it run till it warms up- if it idles after warm(when guage goes up about half way) then its the iac, there is also an idle screw maybe its screwed in all the way?

well i have a running car now. the guy i bought it from must have jacked with the idle screw yeats ago or the iac is bad and i have the idle turned up so much that it idles anyway. now the car will idle at about 1500 to 2500 rpm. it surges back anf forth between the two abnd sometimes idles down so far it nearly dies and surges back. i still haven't put in an iac but i will tomarrow. after a good ground cleaning all around the car isn't throwing anymore codes at all. thanks for the info

 

is there anything else i should be looking for on the idling issue
