You guys void your warranty's?
I really want to get a new type S...but I'm gonna feel like its pointless if I can't even lower it, or modify it in any way....
So, seeing as the cars came out in 2002, they probably still have warranty's on them, did you guys just modify them without giving a ****?
let me know...thanks
going from a turbo LS to a stock type S is a downgrade to me...

The magnusson moss act may have some info that may help you as far as the warranty. Basically you can add things to your car, but if there is a problem that is not directly caused by the part added then it then the dealer cannot void your warranty. However if the part was the problem then you pay for the repairs, they are not covered under warranty. There are alot of issues regarding audio and electronics that are commonly misdiagnosed and then the warranty is still covered. So basically it installed correctly then it will not void your warranty. If you are seriously worried add only things the dealer sells and installs.
I can directly link to a copy of the document if so required.

You still have a warrenty as long as the part added did not cause the malfuntion. Thus if you lower your car and blow your headgasket, there is no corolation. If you add a Air-intake and exhaust and your 5th gear blows... there is no corolation... or is there? This is where a good dealer comes in. Good ones will not care and fix it, bad ones will nit-pick.
Remember, dealer is not loosing money for fixing warrenty issues, in fact they make money doing it. Honda pays the dealer to fix the part.

this is basically all I want until my warranty is up...
intake, header, exhaust, lowered. maybe a lip and a spoiler.
Am I going to be in trouble with those few things...?

Header will give your problems. Cat-back CAN NOT hurt your car, intake they would be hard pressed for an argument, Lowering will only F-up you suspension and handeling, not your power-train.
I don't mind working on **** at all...there was a point where I had to readjust my exhaust, and take the downpipe off my LS every other week to fix some things.
If I had to take it back to the dealership, I'd convert everything back over to stock engine wise....doing that kind of work is no problem for me. I'm just wondering if they would notice that it had been changed back and forth.

It doesnt matter
intake doesnt affect warranty in anyway
exhaust doesnt either
springs wont either, unless u break a CV boot or something ghey!
i brought my R to Acura with 49,950 miles on it, i had 50 miles left on warranty and my car had springs, shocks, intake, spark plugs, fuel pump, and a few more things and acura replaced my tranny synchros after a test drive of grinding gears
light mods wont affect ur warranty, header might though
just mod it, just dont do anything crazy

Be careful. The dealer's service department is paid at a drastically reduced rate for warranty work.
Basically, the dealer and the manufacturer are splitting the cost of warranty work, so it's not a good deal in any way for the guy who's selling cars.
Honda/Acura does this in order to avoid dealer service departments participating in extra-work scams and charging them as warranty issues. It could be a big problem in some heavily metropolitan areas of the USDM.

I planning on voiding mine bit by bit. First suspension, then a drop in and exhaust, then header and Hondata and finally Jackson or a turbo. By the time I convince my wife to let me spend the money on these different things my warranty will be up anyway. I like to have warranty for the small things: leaky sunroof, or window regulator. I am not overly worried about the power train in a Honda.

Exactly. Dealers do not want to do warranty work if they don't have to, service departments make their money on cash customers. Can an intake void your transmission warranty....no. BUT, trans problems can be excluded from warranty coverage if the dealer says the problems are due to abuse, and modifications that increase horsepower can strengthen their case. It really varies from dealer to dealer...some are very reasonable, others are terrible.

everyone is saying that a new header voids your warranty, but it doesnt. when i put mine on (strup performance 4-1 header), I checked to make sure it wouldnt void anything. They told me as long as your header doesnt crack everything else that honda put on it is covered weather it could possible be caused by the modifiaction or not.
Just got back from an Acura dealership, I'm in the process of maybe getting a 05 RSX w/ 2 miles on it. I talked to them about modding the car and what my warranty will cover. They are one of the bigger Acura dealerships here and they said if they install the part it is covered under warranty.

Go for it. Integras ride like dog poop in comparison.
Mod it. If you have the brains to mod the car yourself, then you can step up and fix the car yourself when it has a problem.
